Located in the heart of Southwest Iowa, Greenfield is a progressive, growing community with a rich history and deep roots.
Its museums, lakes, parks, and historic town center make the county seat of Adair County a tourist destination. The Warren Cultural Center, Hotel Greenfield, and the Adair County Courthouse provide the backdrop for a variety of retail, service, and entertainment establishments.
An industrial park provides a home for industry, anchored by insulated glass manufacturer Cardinal IG and ink maker CR/T, a division of Quad Graphics. Adair County is located in rolling farm country, and Greenfield is boosted by a healthy ag economy.
Greenfield has been a Main Street Iowa Community since 1995 and is a Trees Forever Community. It sits at the juncture of two state highways, a mere 13 miles from Interstate 80, and has a municipal airport.
The town is part of the Nodaway Valley Community School District, along with nearby Fontanelle and Bridgewater, and is within easy driving distance of Southwestern Community College in Creston. Adair County Health System provides in- and out-patient medical services and ample elderly housing is available; as are abundant health, wellness and recreational opportunities including the Adair County Health and Fitness Center, youth sports complex, public swimming pool, walking trails, 18-hole disc golf course, and a nine-hole golf course.
Its nearly 2,000 citizens are actively engaged – city government, economic development, the arts, education and civic organizations provide a myriad of volunteer opportunities. The result is an active and attractive community filled with friendly, enterprising people of all ages.
