Greenfield Municipal Utilities
Greenfield Municipal Utilities provides water and electric service to the residents of Greenfield.
Wastewater disposal service is provided by the City of Greenfield Public Works Department, which works closely with GMU on all utility service.
Greenfield was one of the first cities in Iowa to embrace the idea of lighting the town with electricity and opened its first municipal light plant in 1890. The third oldest continually operated municipal electric utility in the state, GMU continues to be an active participant in community development.
GMU encourages and supports energy efficiency, and offers financial assistance programs for business energy audits and subsequent building improvement.
