Fall Fun with Chamber/Main Street

Community Coffees – Starting October 4th  Chamber/Main Street is partnering with businesses to host Community Coffees on the first Friday of every month from 10-11am.  Chamber/Main Street will provide a 30-cup percolator, coffee, cups and promote the event to our newsletter and to our email contact list.  The hosting business is responsible for providing treats and what it takes to serve them (napkins, plates, etc.), promoting their coffee date to their customers and the community, preparing the coffee and hosting attendees during the event.  The Adair County Free Press will host the first coffee on Friday, October 4th at 10am with AGAN Bakery Café hosting the November coffee on the 1st.  Businesses interested in hosting a coffee should contact the Chamber/Main Street office at 641-743-8444.     Scarecrow Contest – Starts October 18th  Businesses are encouraged to dress up a scarecrow to set outside their business or in their window.  Three categories will be awarded: Best Business Theme, Most Detailed and People’s Choice. Scarecrows should be placed outside by October 18th and remain on display until November 18th. We hope you participate and have fun with this!  The more participants we have the more fun its sure to be for our community and customers! If you are planning to make a scarecrow contact Gina at 743-2051.     Holiday to Holiday in Creston – October 28th  The Retail/Business Committee has secured a booth at this extravaganza celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.  The event is Monday, October 28 from 4:30-7:30pm and we invite you to have some information or product at our table to showcase during the event.  Many of the booths do giveaways or food samples – if you wish to provide something like this do let us know.  Please drop your items off at the Chamber/Main Street office, 641-743-8444 by Wednesday, October 23 to participate.     Spook the Loop – October 31st  We are inviting kids to come walk the square on Halloween for a parade of costumes with prizes at 5:30pm and trick or treating to businesses from 5-6pm. All businesses are welcome to set up on the square and pass out candy.  If you are not able to handout your own but want to donate some cash or a small prize for the parade of costumes contest let us know.  We would like all participating business to be included on the Spook the Loop handouts so please let us know right away if you plan to participate!  Call Pam at 343-7310.
