National Accreditation Achieved!  Greenfield Chamber/Main Street is back on track as we receive National Accreditation again for the second year in a row! Receiving National Accreditation is a huge accomplishment and we take pride in being able to receive that status again this year!  As always, we welcome new ideas along with your willingness to provide your time and talent to help them come to fruition.   Whether you can give a little or a lot we would greatly appreciate your involvement.  There are eleven criteria which a program has to meet to receive National Accreditation: 1.Broad-based public support for the commercial district revitalization process 2. Public/Private sector involvement 3. Vision and mission statements 4. Comprehensive Main Street action plans with measurable objectives in each of the Four Points     · Economic Restructuring (Business Improvement): To strengthen and broaden the economic base of the downtown and the community. · Design: To encourage improvement of the downtown and community’s physical appearance. · Organization: To establish a strong program that utilizes a growing number of participants in implementation and funding. · Promotions: To market the downtown to establish a unified image and encourage an exciting variety of activities for all members of the community. 5. Historic preservation ethic 6. Active board of directors and committees 7. Adequate operating budget 8. Paid, professional program director 9. Program of on-going training for staff and volunteers, including attendance at mandatory Main Street Iowa workshops 10. Reporting of key statistics 11. Current member of the National Main Street Network   Main Street as it relates to historic commercial district development, is a copyrighted and trademarked process.  It is owned by the National Main Street Center, Inc.  Main Street Iowa, by contractual agreement, is responsible for monitoring the process in Iowa.  All Main Street Iowa communities have a contractual agreement with the Iowa Economic Development Authority to use and follow the Main Street concept.  The purpose of an annual visit is to support the efforts of the local Main Street organization by evaluation of the past year’s progress and to assure the National Main Street Center, Inc. that the integrity of the process is being upheld.
